Turning Japanese
Hey there…Yes, you’re right – this means multiple posts in the same week. Seriously, I’m trying to post on a more regular basis as the whole point of this blog was to keep in contact, even if it is semi-regular contact, with our customers. And I’d like to do it without completely wasting your time. But, no promises on that front.
So, you may have noticed that we have not been posting a bunch of new stuff this week. And if you haven’t noticed, then hey, pretend you didn’t read that last line. John is currently in the UK, visting his folks, and the rest of us are just trying to keep up with our daily chores. We will be throwing up some new stuff tomorrow, but alas, there won’t be much, if any, in the way of jazz or classical stuff. Instead, it will music I’m more intimately familar with – pop music in its various forms.
We just bought a very large collection from an ex-Tower corporate guy who had a slew of very sweet UK and Japanese pressings of mostly, 70′s and 80′s pop and rock titles. It will take us a bit to work through all of it, but we will adding these titles in the weeks to come. For instance, I just finished typing in some really nice stuff from Japan, Yellow Magic Orchestra, a few Ultravox things, some OMD, Tones On Tail and such. Yeah, all that fey 80′s stuff (and I say that with endearment). Punk rock, trashy glam bands and English pop pretty much dominated my turntable during that decade. And hey, I’m a better man for it. More or less.
And not that you asked, or care, but Japan was one of the areas of musical commonality when my wife and I met. Japan and Hanoi Rocks. And about any other band in which guys wore eye-liner. Now, I suppose that can be understood when it comes to my wife, but I’m not really sure what that says about me. Well, I do, but I’d rather not have that conversation with myself. But hey, once my wife understood she didn’t have a shot at David Sylvian, Brian Ferry or David Bowie, she settled for me. So I’ve got that going for me.
Alrighty than…just a bit off track. See, I’ve already suffered a setback in my desire to not waste your time. Where was I? Yes, going to be adding some new stuff to the site tomorrow. Look for it. Or look at old stuff. Regardless of what you look at, please look. Oh, and buy. Please. Cheers.
