Voted on by a total of 371 artists, producers, industry executives and journalists, the Beatles take the number one spot with “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” with the Beach Boys close behind with “Pet Sounds.” Not too surprising, but as we look through this bumper 120 page $12 special there are a few that are difficult to fathom: the best the Floyd could manage was spot #43 with “Dark Side Of The Moon,” beaten out by the likes of The Sex Pistols’ “Never Mind The Bollocks” at #41, Love “Forever Changes” at #40, John Lennon’s “Plastic Ono Band” at #23 and a few more – Egad! Well it is opinion after all….and it’s still a fun read and a possible turn on to albums that might have slipped our attention. We have LPs spinning here in the office all day, every day and we still fall prey to the audiophile’s curse-there are just not enough hours in every day to listen to everything we want to hear.
