Just last week we passed a significant milestone in our history by reaching the One Hundred Thousandth title we have typed since we built our web site. Would the site be able to handle an extra digit on the id numbers? who knew? We weren’t quite sure what would happen when the site clicked over from five nines to a one with six zeros. Would the world come to an end? Would the water start swirling the other way around the plughole? Would granny get her tit caught in the mangle? These were just some of the baffling uncertainties that came to mind. One thing is for sure: when we place a post-it note on each jacket identifying the LP so that we can find it in the racks, it’s quite difficult to get used to writing 6 digit numbers instead of five. We had put aside a very special record for id number 100,000 which happened to be a deep groove stereo original of Bill Evan’s masterpiece: “Waltz For Debby” which sold almost instantly. Thankfully we won’t reach 7 digits, or one million titles until the year 2075!
