Music Matters Blue Note Update

We have just been informed that starting with the current releases – Art Blakey’s “A Night In Tunisia” and Jackie McLean’s “Beatnik” – Music Matters will no longer provide numbered/serialized copies of their releases to distributors or retailers. Any customer who desires numbered copies of titles issued by the label must subscribe to the entire series via the Music Matters website. (To be fair, there are one or two other retailers who offer subscriptions, but our current understanding is that there is no place to purchase a single numbered copy of the current titles, including those that may offer a subscription service, and that will remain the case going forward)Yeah, kinda blows. And obviously, we’re not happy about the decision. That said, we will continue to carry future releases from Music Matters as the quality, and subsequent interest, dictates we do so. At the end of the day, numbered or not, there are only 2500 copies of each to be had (well, until a re-press, which just occurred with the first two titles in the series) and there needs to be availability for those customers who do not want to sign up for everything. For those folks, we are here for you.
