Loaded For Bear

While I really have NO idea what “loaded for bear” actually means, I’ve heard the phrase for, like, ever. And in my mind, it’s always been associated with the premise that you’re ready for anything, despite surrounding circumstances. I also like the vague connotation to the current economic situation.

So, how’s the global financial meltdown treating you? We here at Audiophile consider ourselves market contrarians. When everybody else pulls back and asseses the situation before making a decision, we simply plow forward. The proof is in the pudding (yet another baffling idiom) – we currently have more records on our site than at any other time in our history. And we think you should celebrate this fact by purchasing some. Or one. Whatever.

But just know that we’re not stopping. John just bought a killer collection of Japanese jazz original pressings that we should have up on the site over the coming week(s). And the incoming stacks seem to be getting a bit more eclectic in nature. We like eclectic.

That’s all I’ve got at the moment. Seriously, we hope your doing well in these somewhat grim times. We find staying away from television, talk radio and newpapers makes us a bit happier. However, there is the trade-off of being incredibly uninformed. It’s a difficult choice during an election cycle, but one of the upsides to living in California during national election campaings is that we are not bombarded with reams of partisan attack ads due to our overwhelming state of, ummm, blueness.

Hang in there.
